About UPSC Civil Services Examination (Prelims)
The UPSC Civil Services Examination (Prelims and Mains) is conducted by the Union Public Service Commission for entrance to the IAS, IPS, IFS and other Group ‘A’ and some Group ‘B’ services. Read the entire list of services here.


Eligibility
1.     Nationality
•     For Indian Administrative Service, a candidate should be a citizen of India.
•     For Indian Foreign Service and other services, a candidate should either be a citizen of India/ a subject of Nepal/ a subject of Bhutan/ a Tibetan Refugee who came over to India before 1st January 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India/a person of Indian origin who has migrated from other countries (detailed list of countries available on official website) with the intention of permanently settling in India.
2.     Age Limit
•     A candidate should be between 21 – 30 years (both inclusive) as on the date mentioned under the UPSC examination notification.
•     The upper age limit is relaxed upto a maximum of :

3.     Educational Qualification
•     A candidate must be a graduate from a recognized university or a deemed university.
•     A Candidate appearing for the final year of bachelor’s degree and awaiting result can also apply.
•     A Candidate possesses professional and technical qualification recognised by Government equivalent to the professional and technical degree can also apply.
•     A Candidate who has passed the final professional M.B.B.S. or any other Medical Examination but has not completed his/her internship by the time of submission of his/her application for the Civil Services (Main) Examination

Paper I – General Studies (GS) - 200 marks – 2 hours
